Katia al-kaisi - founder and ceo
Katia has close 20 years of business development and management experience in the Education, Telecommunications and IT Industries. She has held various key roles in multinational companies (Nokia, Sun Micorsystems, Comptel, Pearson Education) based in Finland and the Middle East. Her in depth understanding of the Middle East and Finnish markets in specific is due to her multicultural Iraqi/Finnish background and native knowledge of both cultures and languages. Passionate about making the two cultures meet and by working with innovative Finnish solutions in the innovation nurturing UAE environment she is working in her dream job!
Katia’s current focus is on introducing world class Finnish education solutions to UAE schools, universities and corporates. Especially in areas of gamification of learning, digital and coding skills for students, 21st skills and solutions supporting global citizenship. One particularly close to heart subject is how to make learning Arabic more fun and engaging using gamification.
Katia is the Vice Chairman of the Finnish Business Council in the UAE and works actively on organizing business and social events for the Finnish and Nordic community.
She holds an M.Sc. in Telecommunications from Aalto University and B.Sc. in Computer Engineering from Baghdad University and is studying for an MA in Education Entrepreneurship at The Oulu University of Applied Sciences.
FEDA SHTIA - pedagocial expert
Feda Shtia is Education House Finland’s pedagogical expert especially in Arabic language adaptation. Feda has over 18 years of experience in education in international schools and universities. A writer, a publisher and entrepreneur, born in the UAE. She is the author and publisher of Deebdeeb, a storybook for toddlers, and is currently working on a new series for young adults and young readers.
She wrote a series of progressive reading books for non-Arabs, within the Arabic for Everyone project, which is still under publishing. She also works with the leading Finnish company seppo building educational games and teachers training. She led lots of training programs for teachers and parents in the UAE. She also led and co-led big events for live gamification in Dubai and Sharjah, organised by MOE and the Supreme Council for Family Affaires Sharjah.
She studied Arabic language and literature at the University of Jordan and completed a postgraduate diploma from St. Joseph University in Beirut.
ALINA OLKKONEN - CONSULTANT
aino leino - marketing intern
Aino is a marketing intern at Education House Finland for the winter semester. Improving our internal marketing strategies as well as our image on social media have been some of her main responsibilities. Aino is originally from Finland and grew up in Turku, Finland for most of her life. Right now she’s a 5th Semester Global Business Management student at the University of Augsburg in Germany. Education for Aino means equal opportunities as well as empowerment of an individual.

I have loved to have the opportunity to learn more about Business Analytics and Customer Relationship Management, CRM. Moreover, it has been very fascinating to get a vaster insight into the Finnish Education Export scenery in the UAE as a whole.”
